Introduction to Interact Club of Asoka College📜

Interact is a movement for the teenagers of ages from 12 to 18 sponsored by the Rotary organization for social service and self-development. It was initiated in 1962 by the Rotaract Club of Melbourne, Florida by establishing the first Interact Club. Interact has become a fast growing organization in Sri Lanka with over 165 listed clubs and a membership of 1600 Interactors.

Interact Club of Asoka College was Chartered in 1996 under the sponsorship of Rotary Club of Colombo Downtown. The Charter President was Past Int. Thusitha Kalpage. Mrs. Priyanka Unamboowe was the inaugural Staff Advisor who used to be the Western Music Teacher as well as the Teacher in Charge of the Western Band at the time. The club was functioning very well in the years of 2003/04. The Interact of Asoka College has been a pioneer in the interact movement since at initiation in the year if 1996. The Service includes creating a DIR and doing Major projects for the Betterment of the Society. After being inactive for several years we the Interact of Asoka College have got up back on our feet with the goal of “Drive to achieve”.

In the years 2021/22 the Interact Club of Asoka College has won the Interact District “Spirit of the Interact” award under the guidance Mr. Rangana Premanath the Teacher in Charge and Int. PP. Rashein Jayasuriya and his board of officials.

Improving lives and communities through learning, leisure and sharing. Empowering the youth to fully participate in the service that should be rendered by them to the outer-society while leading fulfilling lives. And at the same time creating young leaders who can reach their full potential in order to one day be the generation that does that little change to the society for a big and better outcome.
